Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS)

Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) is a group of professionals in the building that come together to discuss the needs of an individual student and ways for that student to be successful. The team is designed to provide an organized way for teachers, staff, and parents to review a student's performance, discuss academic/behavioral concerns, and develop strategies to address areas of need. The combined knowledge, experience, and skills of the members result in a broader range of possibilities for problem resolution.

Students may be referred for the TIPS process due to difficulty in academics (in one subject or in all subjects) or behavioral concerns that impede the his/her learning or that of others around them. Parents and staff members may refer students to the Problem Solving Team.

Parents who have concerns about their child may contact the Student Services Team (Mrs. Vaughan or Mrs. Mascari) who will share more about the TIPS process if needed. All decisions of support for students go through and are agreed upon by the members of the TIPS team.
