Welcome to GW Carver, home of the Soaring Eagles! My experience in education began in Cabarrus County where I worked as a teacher assistant, bus driver, and technology assistant. I worked full time and attended college in the evening while working towards my degree. I completed my student teaching internship at Kannapolis Intermediate School, now known as GW Carver Creative Arts Elementary School, and was hired to teach sixth grade language arts and social studies. In 2014 I joined Fred L. Wilson Elementary School as the Assistant Principal. In August of 2018, I joined the Carver team as the Assistant Principal.

Educational Leadership Philosophy:

Leadership cannot be awarded, appointed, or assigned. It comes only from influence, and that cannot be mandated. It must be earned (Maxwell, 2007). Becoming a school leader is rewarding, yet challenging. Teachers and students need a leader that will chart the course and navigate accordingly. A leader must lead without leverage, yet hold high expectations of their staff and self. I believe all children can learn. Learning begins by developing positive relationships and setting high expectations. I believe Kannapolis City Schools has the most effective, caring teachers in the state.
